Sev.en Energy is the New Owner of Heating Plants in Kladno and Zlín

30 August 2019

Prague/Kladno, 30 August 2019 – Today, Sev.en Energy Group has taken over a 100% ownership interest in Alpiq Generation (CZ) s.r.o., which operates heating plants in Kladno and Zlín. The seller is Alpiq AG, a major Swiss electricity producer and energy service provider. Sev.en Energy intends to further develop the acquired operations and provide the customers in both locations with stable heat and electricity supplies. The company will use a new name – Teplárna Kladno s.r.o. – for both the operating plants.

“The strategic transition between the conventional energy sector and modern energy sources is an opportunity for us. We want to be part of this change as those who will ensure stability and security of supplies, while using new state-of-the-art solutions. The acquisition of the Czech power plants of Alpiq fits exactly into this strategy,” says Ing. Luboš Pavlas, CEO of Sev.en Energy.

Teplárna Kladno s.r.o. – formerly Alpiq Generation (CZ) s.r.o. – operates three heating units in Kladno, which enable using a fuel mix with biomass share, and two flexible gas turbines. At present, only state-of-the-art equipment, which was gradually commissioned from 2000 to 2013, is operated in Kladno, and therefore, the heating plant meets the strict environmental limits of both the Czech Republic and the new European Union regulations valid from 2021. In the Zlín heating plant, the primary fuel is coal with biomass and biogas co-firing. In its operations, Teplárna Kladno s.r.o. produces 2,100 TJ of heat on average every year and supplies more than 35 thousand customers in Kladno and Zlín. On average, the total electricity production exceeds 2.3 TWh annually. With its 250 employees in Kladno and 150 employees in Zlín, the company is a significant local employer.

Sev.en Energy advisors on the acquisition were CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang v.o.s. and PricewaterhouseCoopers Česká republika, s.r.o.
